A favorite vista from one of the picturesque Vineyards we visit with the Cortona Center of Photography Workshops, showing the lush vines in Summer. Like all of Robin’s Images, this effect is produced in camera, and not later in post production.
A view from one of Robin’s favorite field trip locations near Cortona, Italy, the effects in this image are created entirely by the use of in camera effects, with a warming filter, film (that is no longer made) and push processing to create the illustrative texture of the image. Robin currently uses in camera digital settings to create a similar effect (See Geisha Garden image).
Another one of Cortona’s amazing churches, seen from a favorite vantage point is atmospherically toned by the fog on a Fall morning.
A favorite from the Images of Tuscany series, uses filters and compositional decisions to crop in camera for a more interesting view.
Signore Merli, known for his eloquent quotations of Dante, takes his passeggiata down the hill from Santa Margherita in the fog, on that same amazing Fall morning. I was hiding behind the trees lining Via Santa Margherita, hoping not to be discovered because I loved the silhouette he was making as he walked away from me down the hill, but even though I was very quiet and sneaky, he sensed he was being followed because he kept turning around and looking… So I was eventually spotted and received a lovely recitation… “l’amor che move il sole e l’altre stelle (The love that moves the sun and the other stars)”. — Dante Alighieri, The Divine Comedy
